How do I get started?

  • First, complete the consultation request on the Booking page.

  • Next, you will receive a link to complete an on-line intake form. 

  • Then an SLP will contact you to set up a welcome phone call and your initial therapy session.

What should I expect at the start of therapy?

  • The first session will focus on assessing your child's strengths and areas of growth along with beginning to build rapport.

    • Assessment will be completed through informal assessment tools, observations and supplemented with information provided by parents. 

  • Through collaboration with parents and based on observations we will develop goals for your child. ​

  • Direct treatment sessions will then start to work on your child's personalized goals.

What can I expect during treatment sessions?

  • Therapy is conducted using a play-based approach to target your child's goals. 

  • The majority of each therapy session is dedicated to direct therapy with your child.

  • There will be time during or at the end of each session to talk with the SLP about specific strategies and recommendations to support the development of your child's communication skills.  

How many session will my child need?

  • Each child is unique and depending on their goals and needs they may require short or long term support. 

  • Continual monitoring and communication with parents will determine the frequency and timing of sessions. 

Who should attend the sessions?

  • A parent or guardian are required to be in the home during all sessions. 

  • Parents are encouraged to be actively involved during the sessions so that they can observe and practice the strategies used to support their child's goals. 

What if there are siblings home during the sessions?

  • The priority and main focus will be on the child receiving services; however siblings are a natural play partner and may be included during certain activities if they show an interest to participate. 

Do you offer online treatment sessions?

  • Video therapy sessions are available. 

  • The preferred video platform is Zoom and end-to-end encryption will be used to ensure privacy. 

  • Parents are required to remain in the area of the computer to provide technical support if required. 

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Your appointment time is specifically reserved for you. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or if you miss a scheduled appointment, you will be charged the full fee of your session. 

  • Extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis. 

How are you providing services during COVID-19?

  • We follow the guidelines and recommendations set by Alberta Health Services and the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
